If you enjoy walking, socialising and being outdoors or want to lose weight, then you should come and try walking with poles otherwise known as Nordic Walking. This activity is very accessible and suitable for a wide range of people of different ages, gender and fitness levels. It is ideal for people who dislike traditional sports, running and indoor gym activities or have not exercised for a while. Walking with poles can help to burn almost 50% more calories than normal walking. Nordic walking is enhanced walking where specially designed poles are added to regular walking and arms are used to push when the pole is touching the ground. Technically correct use of poles integrates the activation of the upper body into the act of walking and increases the muscle work of the upper body. Nordic Walking is safe, natural, dynamic and an efficient way to achieve the best training results - it helps to control or lose weight, improves your heart, joints and posture, activates all the muscles of the body and tones your body in a balanced way as upper and lower body muscles are equally trained.

Note the end date may change to allow for postpone of the course due to the weather

Materials

Pair of walking poles - can be rented ($10 per training - first session is free trial) or purchased ($90 or $120 a pair) on the day.
