Dingbatz - drawn by Niki

In typography, a "dingbat" is an ornament, character, or spacer used in typesetting, often for the creation of box frames. Often found at the beginning or ending of paragraphs or chapters for example.

In Zentangle, "Dingbatz" are an exploration of that concept, using tangles, borders, frames and flourishes to make beautiful artworks.

Come and learn some tips and techniques for drawing these quirky little pieces. Not difficult but must have attended an Introduction class first.

About the presenter

Niki Lawrence

Although tutor Niki Lawrence has always had an interest in art and completed a one year diploma course, she never really felt particularly comfortable or competent at anything artistic, until she started practicing the Zentangle Method.

In Zentangle there are no mistakes and anything is achievable one stroke at a time. Whether you are young or old, artistic or artistically-challenged, looking for the therapeutic benefits or just a creative outlet, Niki is sure that you will find the beautiful meditative art form of Zentangle, a relaxing and enjoyable pastime.

"I found Zentangle by accident but fell in love immediately. Initially, I just enjoyed being able to create 'pretty pictures', but over time I have come to really appreciate the peace and calm I feel while creating those artworks and I would love to help you discover the joys of Zentangle."

Since travelling to Rhode Island, USA to attend the Zentangle Seminar and become a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), she is more passionate than ever about sharing the joy and beauty of the Zentangle Method.
