We will go back to 1969, the meanings behind the songs, the variety of the album from rock, to country to swing to folk etc.

About the presenter

Lanning has been a musician since his teens, playing pop songs at home on his guitar and then in a couple of bands. The Beatles have always been special to him as they have come to epitomise the very highest levels of popular music. Whether one likes their songs on a personal level or not, there is no denying that the Beatles did more in terms of advancing popular music from a fairly primitive art form to one without limits. The Beatles were relentlessly creative, pushing boundaries that no other group before or since has ever done, and certainly not whilst achieving massive popularity and record sales. And, no other album of theirs represents this creativity and genius more than the Double White album as it moves the listener through rock, pop, county, folk, punk, swing and more all within one record. It was then and still is the definitive rock album, the record against every aspiring rock band sets their sites. This record started it all. Come take a listen.
