Join Kasia to learn the soothing and simple craft of egg painting. A wonderful activity just before Easter and a great way to make unique and non chocolate gifts for the people you love. Kaisa will provide all designs and teach you how to understand drawing onto a curved surface. You'll be amazed that you can learn this in just a few hours. You'll get 5 blown out chicken eggs, patterns and instructions to follow as well as special markers to paint your eggs with.

At the end of the class you will have an opportunity to buy additional eggs to take home and continue with your family. You will have enough skills to be able to show others how to paint.

Kasia has been painting eggs since she was a child in Poland. A long standing tradition in all Polish households was to decorate blown out chicken eggs called "Wydmuszki" and then place them in baskets on the table over Easter. The baskets were traditionally filled with other meaningful items each one symbolizing an important part of life; bread, salt, sugar etc. You can create your own meaningful baskets to decorate your family table over Easter time. Place items inside that are meaningful to you and enjoy an Easter that is about more than just chocolate.

Materials provided:

  • 5 blown out and cleaned chicken eggs.
  • 3 colours of 'Posca' markers.
  • Full instructions and patterns to follow.
  • 1 gift box with tissue paper to present a finished egg.

About the presenter

Kasia Jacquot is an embroidery artist, egg-painter, teacher and designer of patterns. She has a knack for making things with her hands, and endeavours to bridge the gap between your conviction that you can't make something and the thing that you want to create. She shows you the small steps, the 'a-ha!' shortcuts, the colour combinations and the patterns that work well.

"I love that MCC is a small community environment that supports our never ending human desire to continue learning at any age," says Kasia. "It's a wonderful reason for an organisation to exist." Her teaching philosophy is: 'purpose is the driving principle that makes you finish your work'.
